Five Tips To Help You Write Better Affiliate Product Reviews

five tips to help you write better affiliate product reviewsAffiliate product reviews are a smart strategy for boosting website visibility, popularity, and profits. Many people worldwide are writing affiliate product reviews to drive more consumer traffic to their sites, and it is important to be sure that it is being done right.

Consumers will only buy products that are being promoted if they respect and trust the business. Here are five tips for writing affiliate product reviews that will provide big wins.

1. Be Honest and Give Pros and Cons

Try a product, talk to people who have tried a product, find out more about it, and then promote it honestly. Completely analyze the item, and give readers the strengths and benefits as well as any shortcomings.

In order to be credible, the review has to give a fair assessment of the product. Your trust and credibility will be lost quickly if every product reviewed is seen as a miracle solution.

2. Ask for Feedback

If many people write testimonials raving about a product, then readers are more inclined to believe that the product has something special to offer. When promoting a product on a website, asking visitors for their feedback and permission to use their reviews can be useful. Feedback is a powerful tool and can be used as part of a strong internet marketing plan.

3. Choose What to Promote Wisely

If a product is in high demand and appears to be popular with a majority of consumers, then it is a winner. Do research and check out the manufacturer’s website, as many have a “most popular items” or “best-selling” items section.

Also do a web search of the best-selling products, and check out any sites that come up. Note the keywords each site uses in its product review or write-up, then incorporate these keywords into reviews for search engine optimization.

4. Get Forum Feedback

Another great way to find out if a product is good or not is to obtain feedback from others who have used it. Friends and family members can be asked for feedback, and there are also forums available that show what the public has to say.

Do a search of the product name or some keyword associated with the specific product along with the word “forum.” Then gather the feedback needed to give readers a well-written product review.

5. Offer Comparisons

One effective way to promote a product is to offer a comparison: “If you enjoy being able to vary your lighting to match your mood, you will really enjoy the versatile lighting options provided by the XYZ lamp.”

Also, include a “call to action,” but don’t “hard sell” with, “Buy it Today!” Remember to review the product, not sell it. Many people are turned off by an aggressive sales pitch. Instead, suggest to readers that research and experience with the product demonstrates it has many positives to offer.

Honest yet positive affiliate product reviews will boost credibility, web presence, and drive more customers to the affiliate’s website and increase revenue. Keep content fresh by changing it daily or weekly, and visitors will happily return to the website often to see what other great information is available.

Great tips, Kevin. A lot of people will do a biased or one sided review just because they want to make sells and that’s not ethical in my opinion. A true review should reveal all of the good, bad and ugly, plus make suggestions for improvements. Thanks for sharing your insights about proper reviews. I appreciate it!

Great write up! One more thing, whenever you write a review, you might talk about a problem or a situation that would be the solution to one of your affiliate products.

  4. Hey Kevin,

Great tips here and this will prove super helpful when I write my first affiliate product review on my blog. I usually keep my posts to informational but I have been personally reviewing a particular product with some great results.

I’ve always known to not keep out the important details, good or bad, and this was a great reminder. Product reviews can be a great traffic driver, so if you funnel your visitors into your email list, you can recommend it to them when they get there instead of actually on the blog.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like a product review without a CTA to buy it at the end seems much more honest.

    Thanks for the tips!

I am also a great believer in realistic reviews. I especially like the pros and cons about products. It makes it sound more believable if the product has at least one negative thing about it. It sounds less like you are just trying to sell the product ;) Good article, thanks for sharing!

    Hi Kevin,

I considered reviews to be “hard-sell” posts, but I’ve written a review post on my blog just to test this out and it turns out that people respond well to these posts.

My rule is to always promote things I’ve been using extensively and I’m very familiar with what they have to offer. This way my readers will know I’m not trying to fool them or scam them with low value products or services just to get a commission.

I think our online reputation is our biggest asset and we have to protected as much as we can.
Love the tips you mentioned in this post. I’m sure people will find them very useful.

    Cheers.
